TRESPASSERS WILL BE COMPOSTED: A VISIT WITH COCO GORDON

by Kristen Mueller

In May of 2026 I had the privilege of visiting artist Coco Gordon (aka SuperSkyWoman, aka Coco Go) at her home and studio in Colorado. At 87, she exuded joy and unrelenting energy, walking me through numerous shelves, drawers and closets packed with decades-worth of her artists’ books, mail art correspondence, prints, paintings, handmade paper, instruments and more.

I took photos along the way, trying to capture something of her tremendous output, to hold as inspiration and to share in the best way I can, through the form of a book.

The result is a new fanzine: Trespassers will be composted: A visit with Coco Gordon. The pages, shown here, alternate between paper and silk. The former hold photos I took during our visit, The latter hold scans of images from Coco’s artists’ books, which number over 200.
